DON’T BE THE BEST PHOTOCOPY OF SOMEONE ELSE.
Imagine a cheetah trying to copy how fast a sheep run. The idea sounded ridiculous, right?
While the cheetah may be happy it can run like a sheep, it may not realise it has more potentials to run one hundred times faster than the sheep.
Catcha! That’s what happen when you try to copy others blindly. The moment you copy others and use them as your standard for success, you forfeit your individuality and originality. No matter how hard you try to copy others, you can only be the second best version of them. Photocopies cannot be clearer than the original. Even if they are, they are still photocopies.
We live in a world which is inundated with commercials and advertisers telling us what we must all do, what we must wear, what we must think to be successful . It’s always an one-size- fit -all situation.
Don’t go where every body is going. There is no growth there, no originality, no innovation just imitations.
So many people are doing what looked “amazing” on social media. Others are caught up in the fashion frenzy and boast of their success. t It can be easy to get so attracted to the “wonderful” things other people are doing so much that you end up thinking you should also be doing the same things too. It’s pretty normal to feel that way.
The danger is, you may lose sight of who you are and your own unique style, because of the glories and amazing stories bombarding you from people who seemed to have the magic formulae for success. If that happens, you feel like just copying them. Afterall, it’s easier to copy others who seemed to be very successful.
In the year 2000, a student came to me with a problem. He said he tried to be like one star☆ student in the university. He even went to him for some advice on the study method he adopted to become a celebrity student in the school. Luckily he gave him some advice on HIS learning style. He came back and adopt HIS learning style. Sadly, he failed!!
Now, this is the fundamental problem. He failed to realise that he was different from the other boy and needed to adopt a learning style that suited him.
After giving him some guidelines, he recognised his own individuality. He finally discover what worked for him and eventually became the best student of the year. That was the turning point in his life.
Yes, it is when we discover ourselves that we begin to live.
You see, everyone is born with a unique potential. It is when we discover ourselves and our uniqueness that the genius in us begin to manifest to the world.
Sheep and goats are all four legged animals but they all have their uniqueness. Instead of trying to imitate someone else’s style , discover your own originality because that is your bona fide property. The basic truth is;
Each person is born unique. Every individual is different and has his or her unique characteristics and qualities.
Anytime you feel like you’re losing touch with your authentic self and trying to be like everyone else, remember Norman O. Brown’s Quote ,”I am what is mine.
Personality is the original personal property.”
The only true personal property you have is your personality. It’s your natural patent right. Discover it and recreate yourself into a brand. YOU are only one on Earth. No one else can be like YOU.
No one else can laugh like you do. The best is you. Others are second best, just photocopies.
No one else can sing like you. The best you. Others are second best.
You are the ONLY ONE who can play that football like that , speak like that , analyse issues like that , preach like that , run like that.
Yes, YOU are the only person who can do it like YOU.
Nobody else can do it like YOU.
Of course, there are a lot of positive elements we can pick from people ahead of us in the same field. We can glean these gems of experience to enhance who we are.
It doesn’t mean we should compromise our uniqueness, individuality or personality.
Aristotle disagreed with most of
Plato’s philosophy. What you may not have realised is, Aristotle was taught by Plato. He could had just copy the way of his teacher Plato who was regarded as a great philosopher. Ironically, Aristotle had not lost his individuality even as a student. He had a mind of his own while tapping into the treasures of knowledge given to him by his teacher. With that, he formed his own opinion.
Plato was an idealist, who believed that everything had an ideal form but Aristotle believed in looking at the real world and studying it.
It was said that ,Aristotle’s contributions have arguably been more influential, particularly when it comes to science and logical reasoning than Plato Although the former had been the latter’s student.
There is another hidden danger in copying others. How will the world be like if we all behave like the actor Tom Hardy or Dwayne Johnson?
We would have lost the unique acting skills of other notable Hollywood Icons like Leonardo DiCaprio,Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Reynolds,Chris Evans,Chris Pratt etc.
Can you imagine how basket ball would have been if all basket ball players play the same style , perhaps like Michael Jordan?
What about the musical industry?
If every musician behave like Michael Jackson, we would have missed Justin, Biebier, Eminem, Chris Brown, Celine Dion, Stonebwoy, Beyoncé.
I could have missed the stupen
dous wrestling skills of Rey Mysterio and Roman Reigns.
Luckily, the world is blessed with a plethora of talents with each one unique in his own right.
One fundamental question is,” how can you develop your unique personality instead of copying others?”
The answer is: KNOW YOURSELF.
Knowing yourself is not only about knowing your favorite food, music or hobby. It is about knowing your limitations and strength. You must be aware of your abilities. You need to analyze yourself and find out your weak points.
Accept that one thing that you cannot be best at. Then work on what you can be best at. No one can be very good in everything.
We all have our strengths and weaknesses. You are different from others; you have your own set of talents and abilities. Just because
Someone is great at something that you are not good at does not mean he is better than you. There will surely be things that you can equally do better than him. So never compare yourself to others or try to imitate them in order to become like them. It does more harm than good to you.
Comparing yourself with others only increases your stress and anxiety especially when you start focusing on where you are lacking instead of where you are gaining. Channel your energy towards your positive traits. That’s what identify you to be you.
In conclusion, I say, Love yourself, discover your uniqueness, your originality, your brand and you will definitely achieve a better version of yourself, not the second best of another person.
Bless the world with your uniqueness. Remember, don’t be the imitator, Be the originator.
Salary Cannot Make You Rich.
You go to work. It’s the end of the month. You wait for your paycheck. Catch’ am. The salary is in. For the next two weeks , you are okay. Then in the third week, you begin managing to survive. It’s a familiar routine. It’s cyclical. It’s occurs over and over again. It’s just a matter of time.
Is that scenario familiar to you?
Let’s face the reality. Salary cannot make you rich.
Jimmy worked for a big insurance company yet retired poor. He could not I’m sure himself against poverty. His brother Irvin was an entrepreneur, yet was rich, with his company still working and bringing money.
Wait a minute, let’s examine these people;
1.Jeff Bezos, $190bn
The former hedge fund manager turned online book seller started Amazon in his garage in 1994. Bezos has invested heavily in space technology and also owns The Washington Post newspaper.
2.Bill Gates, $120bn
A permanent fixture at the top end of rich list for the past 20 years, the Microsoft founder has sold or given away much of his stake in the company – he owns just 1% of Microsoft – and now focuses predominantly on his philanthropic work.
3.Mark Zuckerberg, $100bn
Zuckerberg famously started Facebook in 2004 at the age of 19 and now is among the top five richest men in the world.
4.Bernard Arnault & family, $81.4bn
Arnault is the wealthiest European on the list. The Frenchman
oversees an empire of more than 60 brands including Louis Vuitton and Sephora.
5.Mukesh Ambani, $80.3bn
Indian Ambani has a 42% controlling stake in Reliance Industries, which is the owner of the world’s largest oil refining complex. He is also the owner of property worth more than $400m.
What do they have in common?
One, they are all super rich. They are the world’s richest people.
Two, they are NOT salaried. They don’t work for the government. They have their own businesses.
How do they become super rich?
These question will be answered at the end of the article.
Now, let’s focus on salary.
I see salary S•A•L•A•R•Y as
Small Amounts Labourers Always Receive Yearning.
A salary is a fixed regular payment, typically paid on a monthly basis but often expressed as an annual sum, made by an employer to an employee, especially a professional or white-collar worker.
The goal of an organisation is to maximise profit. You are in that organisation to contribute towards its growth. The growth of that organisation is paramount, not your interest or welfare. It therefore stands to think that you are expendable. The organization can survive without you. Salary is a bribe companies give you to forget your dream. It doesn’t matter if the company is a private one or government.
If you work for a government, keep in mind you are just a tool being used by an institution to achieve her goal. Your destiny is in the hands of the government. She determine what you are paid and use high taxes to take it back ,
leaving you with peasants.
One more thing about being a salaried worker, if you are fired from your work or death occurs, your children will be taken off from the government apartment, no matter your status in the organisation and replace with another person swiftly.
Now that we realise salary cannot make you rich, what should you do?
It’s simple,(a) get another source of income.
(b) leave the organisation and established your own business where you can take your destiny into your hands.
While option A is quite easy, option B is quite difficult, right?
Well, not exactly. Let me give you a suggestion, if you want to establish your business in say , five years time from now, there are few steps you can take.
One, identity clearly the business you want to do.
Two, ask yourself why you want to do it.
Three,do a survey to see the feasibility of your company.
Four, start investing part of your salary now. In five years time you will have quite a moderate capital to start your business.
If you truly want to make it big, identity a problem in your society and develop an innovative way to solve that problem. I can assure you, that will open the door of success to you. All the super rich men in the world brought in an innovative ideas and today, their reward is great.

Ten Habits That are keeping You Poor
Are you poor?
Maybe it is because you have
certain habits that could be detrimental to Your progress and
inadvertently keep you in the circle of poverty.
They are Procrastination, Habitual Borrowing ,Lack of planning,
Buying luxuries on a meagre salary, Fear of taking Risk, Lack of investment ,Depending on salary alone, poor time Management skills, and giving excuses.
The clock is ticking. You look at it with anxiety. You keep putting off that task. You knew it’s suppose to be done one week ago yet you keep procrastinating.
As humans, we behave as if we are in control of time but the truth is , time doesn’t belong to us. There is so much to do within the short time given to us.
Edwards writes, “Time is so short, and the work which we have to do in it is so great, that we have none of it to spare.”
Time is a very precious resource yet undervalued by us.
When we procrastinate, we allow precious time to slip by unused. Past time cannot be recovered. When time is gone, it is truly gone. We all have 24 hours but how we make use of the 24 hours can make a difference between being rich and being poor. Don’t allow procrastination to steal your most precious resource- time.
Instead of living within their means and cutting their coat according to their clothes, they spent more while they earn less. The result of this habit is borrowing money to make up for the extra expenditures. If we keep borrowing more when we earn less, we will have a mountain of debt to clear and we may not have time to clear it all before we die. If we are unable to clear our debts, how will be acquired wealth. It us no wonder borrowers are always poor.
Of course, people borrow money from banks to invest in their businesses. That’s not the point I’m making. My point is habitual borrowing to service our wants which has no business or commercial value.
3.Lack of planning
Planning is a fundamental requirement in all facets of life. A planned live has a higher success rate than an unplanned one. Most unsuccessful people go about their daily life without any specific target for the day. They don’t know exactly where they are going, where they have reach and how much time is required to reach their destination.
After so many years, they realise they achieve virtually nothing.
4. Buying luxuries on a meagre salary.
Let’s face it. Luxuries are not for the poor. You can’t struggle all the time to get just a small wage or salary only to waste it on luxuries. Most people but luxury goods to create an illusion that they are rich while in reality, they are poor. Consequently, they ended up either in debt or broke.
Why will someone earning $345 a month strive to buy the Falcon Supernova iPhone 6 $48.5 million? Even the idea is preposterous.
5.Fear of taking Risk.
You can’t learn anything new if you don’t take risks. Take risk, fail, learn from that experience and move on more intelligent. Failure is part of success. Without failure, success can’t exist. Success is not automatic. If you fear risk taking, you can’t progress and you remain where you are- poor.
6.Lack of investment.
If you don’t want to remain poor, Develop the habit of investment. like Warren Buffett. He’s a genius in investment.
Start investing now, your future self will thank you.Being frugal is important, but it’s only one side of the coin. Cutting your fancy cappuccino habit to save a few bucks isn’t going to push the needle for you. While there is a limit to have much we can save, there is no limit to how much we can earn.
7.Depending on salary alone.
Get other sources of income. Don’t depend solely on your meagre salary. It may save you today but not tomorrow. Create wealth, not riches. Salary may make you look rich but wealth will make you wealthy. Be versatile and create avenue multiple income.
8. Giving excuses.
If you are always finding reasons to justify your actions, then life will also find reason to keep you in poverty. Take responsibility for your actions and inactions.
The poor generally make excuses for their situation while the rich do not, allowing them to grow financially.
I’ve been poor and I’m comfortable now. I did start with nothing and didn’t get any handouts to get to where I am. So I might say to poor people that it’s all up to them whether they succeed or fail.
Initially, I made so many excuses until i decide to change my destiny. I went through very hard years to get to a comfortable place. Very hard. But I chose to go through them and to try to get to a better place and STOP MAKING EXCUSES.
Generally speaking, those that are poor and stay poor are people who are unwilling to go through that hardship and striving to get to this place of comfort, so they find reasons or excuses for their conditions.
They are more willing to just suffer in poverty than STOP the excuses and rise. My dear rider, it’s time to start that project, that plan, that workout. You can make that business work. Kill excuses before they kill you.
9. Poor Financial management skills.
Even if you earn high salary but have poor financial management skills, you will be poor.
Poor financial management can easily lead to overspending. Preparing in advance for large expenses is critical. It is much more rewarding to save for your next big purchase, and then run up your credit cards. If you are not careful, it can lead to further debt, which can easily spiral out of control. With debt comes poverty.
In 2010, My cousin John earned as high as 9000$( 51,840 Ghc) for being the manager of a certain company [ name weldheld].
Despite his gargantuan Salary, he was still poor and always find himself in debt.
Why, he lack proper financial management skills.
10.Buying Cheap Products/ Buying in bits.
Do you always buy the cheapest version of whatever it is you need? Do you sometimes have to buy a second one soon after purchasing the first one because the first one broke? If this is you, you are not saving money by doing this.
Buy things that will last longer even if it cost a little more than the cheap one. It will save your money.
In the same vein, buy your non perishable items you use every day in bulk instead of in bits if you want to save your money. It may sound paradoxical but it’s the truth. The more you spend to buy a quality
Product, the more you save.
To sum it all, it is imperative to identify what is keeping you in the quagmire of poverty so that you liberate yourself from that yolk and have financial freedom.

The Types of Friends You Should Avoid.
Everyone in the world needs friends.
We could find friends in Schools,
churches or Workplaces. Just as we have genuine money and counterfeit money so do we have genuine friends and fake friends. There are five Categories of fake friends namely the BackStabbers,Cowards,Enemy of progress,Snake under grass and Evil Doers.
This kind of friend is difficult to spot because he has two characters. One character is to comfort or console you and the other character is to talk negatively behind your back.He creates a negative image about you to those who believe and trust you. People tend to believe him because he is close to you.He smile to you when he’s with you but SMILE with your enemies behind your back.He creates the impression that you are a hypocrite and are not real as you appear to be.
Have you ever met someone who always boast of how bravely he faced a difficult situation yet got frightened when a similar situation he claimed to have faced bravely resurfaced. That is the coward.A coward friend is a friend that runs away from you when you get into trouble instead of sticking with you.For example, imagine someone who seems to be a loyal friend,You are riding your car and he was accompanying you. Suddenly you are stopped by the police and get arrested for not renewing your drivers license.
The next thing you know is your friend saying,”Officer, I am just accompanying him and I guess I should be leaving now.So he bolts away leaving you with the police. That friend is nothing less than a coward.
The enemy of progress
A progress is advancing from one stage to another qualitatively. Anyone who discourages all the positive ideas you raised up with him are enemies of progress. Most often than not, these friends are secretly jealous you will become a great or successful man in future so they try as much as possible to discourage and derail your focus.
Example, You tell your friend that you Want invest in your studies so that you get good grades that will make it easy for you to get a scholarship to study in United Kingdom. Your friend discourage you by saying you don’t need to invest much in your studies because life is too short and you need to enjoy life now that you are young. You tell your friend you want to be self employed or an entrepreneur but he tells you to forget that idea because entrepreneurship is too risky.
Snake under grass
A friend who never keep your secrets but leak them to others is referred to as a snake under grass.A secret is best kept by one person. If it leaves your mouth to your friend, forget it, it’s no longer a secret. I knew of two friends Sophia and linda.Sophia was married but got herself trapped in a romantic affair with another man.Sophia told her best friend about the affair.A few days later, Linda told Sophia’s husband what happened. It resulted into quarrel and a divorce. There are two friends John and Kingston. John often leave his key under a doormat near his door.Kingston told some hoodlums about this secret and they end up robbing John.
The Evil Doer
The evil doer is someone who encourages you to do what you know is bad.Anyone who encourage you to chase different women, skip class, lie and extort money from your parents , dress provocatively or smoke weed is an evil doer.
In conclusion, this article have identified the five types of bad friends you need to disassociate from if you want to live a positive lifestyle.
